Coffee is a Good Thing

When I was in training, my trainer always said that coffee grinding was inappropriate because coffee is bad for children.  However, the children experience such joy when they can make a gift of freshly ground coffee to their parents that I decided to include it in my practical life area anyway (my apologies Mrs. Fernando)!

  1. The coffee smells so good too. In fact I hate the taste but love the smell. We also use it for pouring from jug to jug and in a sensory tray. It leaves the most beautiful smell behind on your hands and invites children who need to practice the pincer grip to the activity by the enticing aroma!

  2. We were doing few coffee exercises last week in my classroom too.

  3. Nothin' wrong with coffee, IMO. We use grounds for a "writing tray" to practice cursive letters before moving to the chalkboard. I love the idea of a coffee grinder, my grandmother had one when I was little and seeing the pictures of your young student brought back great memories. If I ever have my own school, I will definitely include it in the PL section!

  4. Sahana my daughter loves to grind cofee. She'd come home many days and tell me that was her activity for the day. And when I grind coffee she always helps me now. She is quite an expert at it as you see in pics. I too have reservations about children coming near coffee (she does have too much of an interest in it), but I love doing that activity with her.
